He signed a year-long contract to stay with C4, just as his series on prison cooking is due to air.
It will see him make at least three new shows â" but The F Word will definitely not be one of them. It has been banished to the deep freeze, never to return.
His future had been under the microscope after channel bosses decided to give him just a one-year extension last summer.
Not all his shows have succeeded â" notably misfiring was travel series Gordonâs Great Escape.
But last night a pal said: âGordon is excited to be signing for another year. The eight-year partnership has produced some of the highest rating shows on Channel 4, with the latest series Gordon Behind Bars out next week, as well as a new series confirmed for the autumn.
âGordonâs on great form and thrilled to be back on Channel 4 next week.â

A channel source said: âGordon is a key part of our success and weâre delighted heâs staying with us.
âHe remains Britainâs most entertaining chef and we see him as an integral part of our schedule.â
He returns to our screens on Tuesday in the show where he teaches jailbirds in Brixton how to cook.
His next series will see him team up with tellyâs High Street queen Mary Portas to run a hotel. Called Hotel Britannia, the venue will be run by unemployed people and feature guest mentors including Countdownâs Nick Hewer.
The chef recently signed a similar new deal in the US, where he appears on their version of Masterchef.
