Paula, who became famous for whipping up fatty foods including Krispy Kreme hamburgers, fried cheesecake and bacon burgers served on doughnuts on her show, has slimmed down after discovering she was suffering from Type 2 diabetes.
The 65-year-old said: "I do think differently (about food) now. I'm more aware."
Paula, from Savannah in the southern US state of Georgia, swapped her favourite fried chicken and mashed potato for Greek salads and baked fish after finding out she had diabetes three years ago.
The chef, who had previously been dubbed the queen of southern cuisine, told People magazine: "It took me a couple of years to get to this point.
"If you make a few small changes, they can add up to big results."

She added: "I'm redoing the way my plate looks. I'm doubling up on salad or vegetables and putting smaller portions of carbs and all that. I try to walk thirty minutes a day."
But Paula has been slammed by her critics for profiting from promoting a diabetes drug after she was diagnosed with the disease following years of gorging of fatty sugary foods.
Chef Anthony Bourdain attacked her on Twitter saying: "Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking business, so I can profitably sell crutches later."

He had previously dubbed her "the most dangerous person to America who's proud of the fact that her food is f****** bad for you".
News reporter Barbara Walters has also blasted Paula in the past saying: "You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast.
"You tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch. And french fries. Doesn't it bother you that you're adding to this?"
