Nicola McLean battles back after devastating miscarriage

Nicola McLean battles back after devastating miscarriage

The model looked stunning in a blue floral playsuit as she smiled with her footballer husband Tom Williams.

They were at a party to launch former Big Brother star Nikki Grahame's second book, Fragile, the follow-up to her Dying To Be Thin.

Nicola, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother this year, revealed her devastation at losing a baby earlier this month.

The 30-year-old was terrified that a night out in the early stages of pregnancy when she mixed Champagne and Prozac - a drug she uses to control her bulimia - may have been responsible for miscarriage.

She told OK! magazine: "I did worry, so I asked the doctor and he told me that a lot of people drink when they're pregnant in the early stages â€" unless they've planned the baby â€" as there's no way of knowing, and some people do remain on anti-depressants while they're pregnant too."

The doctors also told Nicola that the foetus was unable to develop due to chromosome abnormality.

She said: "The baby was never going to grow or form properly, it's quite common."

Recalling the evening she drank, she said: "It was only one night and I didn't know I was pregnant.

"I looked really drunk in the pictures that were published but that was because I was on Prozac, not for depression but to control my bulimia, but after two glasses of Champagne I get really drunk because you shouldn't mix them."

Nicola says she stopped taking Prozac when she realised she was pregnant, but after learning she had miscarried she resumed taking the prescription drug as she is so scared that her eating disorder will return.

She said: "I take it because it takes all of the compulsion out of my bulimia, although I do have to take a high dose - 60mg - for this to happen."

Nicola also said that she told fans that she was pregnant â€" before the 12-week mark â€" as she couldn't bear people to think that she had put on weight.

She said: "I really struggle with people being judgmental about my weight. It's that unfortunate anorexic's brain, if people know I was pregnant I'm OK."

The baby would have been the third child for Nicola and hubby Tom, who already have sons Rocky, six, and two-year-old Striker.
