There were 2.7million watching, way up on the previous week’s 1.3 million and the highest figure since January 2010.

Jimmy recorded it on Thursday as the outcry over his legal scheme that allowed him to pay one per cent tax came to a head.

During the show he had to tackle quips including Sean Lock telling him: “We all like to put a bit of money away for a rainy day, don’t we? But I think you’re more prepared than Noah.”
