Finnish broadcaster YLE to cover Olympic Games and not BBC

YLE will produce events in the Olympic Stadium as part of a deal with the International Olympic Committee.

The BBC will have little part to play in the stadium, apart from providing the odd camera to focus on British competitors.

Because of the size of the Games, broadcasters from different countries will produce different sports on behalf of the IOC’s Madrid-based company, Olympic Broadcasting Services.

The Beeb will be in charge of sports such as rowing, boxing and tennis.

Other national broadcasters involved include those from Cuba, which will oversee the volleyball, and China, which is in charge of filming badminton and gymnastics.
