Divorced Gary Suller, 45 â€" a TV extra who also appeared in Casualty â€" was tied up and killed in a “savage and bloody†attack at his home.
The actor worked updating websites for massage parlours and brothels between roles â€" and had fallen for one of the “working girlsâ€, a murder jury was told.
He died after junkie Katie Gilmore, 27, agreed to be his bride â€" enraging the other man she was seeing, Cardiff Crown Court heard. Fellow heroin addict Barry Bowyer, 38, allegedly lay in wait after breaking into the actor’s three-bed terrace in Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, South Wales.
He admits killing his love rival â€" but claims it was a “momentary lapse†during a bungled burglary.
Prosecutor Peter Davies said dad-of-two Gary â€" who landed roles in a Doctor Who Christmas special and the Rhys Ifans film Mr Nice â€" had his hands and feet bound with flex. He told the jury: “Barry Bowyer and Gary Suller were not strangers to each other â€" they were both in love with the same woman.
“Bowyer contemplated, planned and carried out an attack at the home of a man he detested.†He said Gary was “infatuated†with the vice girl. They visited a register office to announce their wedding.
The blonde told cops Bowyer wanted her to himself. She said: “He knew my only escape was Gary and he hated him for that.â€
Bowyer, of Croesyceiliog, nicked the actor’s TV and car as he lay battered. After driving off he kept an appointment to report to a police station as part of bail conditions for a previous arrest.
He admits burglary and manslaughter but denies murder. The trial continues.
