Sophie Simmons won't Kiss up to X Factor USA judges

The 19-year-old daughter of rock royalty has tried out for the show in San Francisco.

She told the judges: "This isn't about my Dad. This is my audition."

Gene, 62, was in legendary glam rock band Kiss, famed for their over-the-top make-up.

Sophie didn't pre-warn her parents that she was going to audition for the show.

Gene revealed: "I was in Las Vegas, mom was in Los Angeles, and we get a phone call saying 'I can't come home today because I'm in Oakland', and I said what are you doing in Oakland? She goes, I'm auditioning for X Factor.

"So I had to take a private jet and Shannon (Tweed, my wife) came up. We had no idea this was happening. I swear to God."

He added: "We think she's the most talented, wonderful, charming daughter but we just want her to get want a fair shot."

Sophie tried out in front of judges Demi Lovato, who was sporting a pink tint at the end of her locks, Britney Spears, LA Reid and Simon Cowell.

But when LA noted: "She's your daughter, it should be a yes?" Simon Cowell quickly jumped in and countered: "No, that’s not doing to happen. She's just going to get a fair shot."
