Speaking about the racy footage with ex-boyfriend Ray J, which was leaked online before she became a household name, Kim said: "I don't know what I would have done... what I would have said."
Kim's father Robert Kardashian, a top US lawyer who defended OJ Simpson during his ex-wife's murder trial, died of cancer in 2003.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashian's star spoke candidly during her guest appearance on Oprah Next Chapter on screened on Sunday. Kim revealed: "I'd like to think that I'm aware that that's pretty much how I was introduced to the world.
"It was a negative way, so I felt like I really had to work 10 times harder to get people to see the real me. I felt humiliated.
"I'm definitely not grateful for that experience. If I was to live my life again, obviously I wouldn't do that again."
Kim also insisted she had nothing to do with the release of the sex tape, telling Oprah: "Why would anyone put that humiliation on their family? That's what I did. And that's something that I'm gonna have to live with for the rest of my life and have to explain to my children one day.
"Imagine the conversation I had to have with my grandmother."
Kim split from her husband basketball player Kris Humphries in October following just 72 days of marriage. She told Oprah:
"I think when people first meet, everything is great in the beginning, but I didn't spend more than a whole week with my ex before we married.
"When we moved in together, I saw how our relationship was. I don't want to get into the small things, but once we moved in, I knew he was not the one."
Kim is now dating rapper Kanye West.
