The Londoner, whose father Lloyd died of stomach cancer just days before her audition, said: âI often dream about him the night before I sing.
âI can feel his presence and thatâs very comforting.
âHe gives me strength when I am singing and I think about him a lot when I perform.â
Ruth added that the BBC1 show had helped her cope with her grief at his death.
She said: âDoing The Voice has definitely helped me so much. I donât know what I would do if I didnât have this.â
Meanwhile, she reckons her experience has finally laid to rest the agony of being bullied while she was at school.
She revealed: âIt was so bad, I kept telling myself it can only get better.
âI guess I am proof that if you work hard, you can get to do what you want.
âYou need to hang in there as it will get better.â
