Richard Arnold is back as Daybreak’s new showbiz editor

TELLY favourite Richard Arnold is returning to the ITV breakfast sofa next month as Daybreak’s new showbiz editor.

He has been drafted in as part of the overhaul of the failing ITV1 morning show to replace Steve Hargrave.

Former GMTV star Richard joked: “I’m going back for one reason and one reason alone â€" to cut Kate Garraway’s fringe.

“I will also bring everyone the big showbiz news of the day.

“It’ll be a great craic to be back with all the old faces, most of whom, oddly enough, look younger than ever.

“The prospect of getting dressed in the dark again is not a thrilling one.

“But if anyone can pull off denim dungarees at five in the morning, I can.”

Daybreak editor David Kermode said: “Richard’s got the best connections in the showbiz world and he knows how to make our viewers smile.

“We can’t wait to have him back on board.”
